Glasgow Rangers, who are seeking a new head coach after parting ways with Michael Beale, are the organization where Frank Lampard hopes to relaunch his managerial career.
The 43-year-old was fired as the manager of the Rangers late on Sunday night after a terrible start to the season.
They were third in the Premiership before the Englishman was fired, one point behind St. Mirren and seven points behind city rivals Celtic.
The pressure on Beale increased after a 7-3 overall loss to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League play-off round in August. Beale’s summer rebuild has been widely criticized, with a number of new hires failing to have an impact.
For the final 11 games of the Premier League giants’ disastrous season, Lampard returned to Chelsea on an interim basis after being fired by Everton earlier this year.
According to The Telegraph, Lampard is interested in the role at Rangers but would need guarantees regarding the Scottish club’s long-term goals after encountering toxic environments at Goodison Park and Stamford Bridge.
Earlier this week, Lampard said on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports that he is considering his options and feels rejuvenated after taking a break from the game.
Lampard continued, “I think it’s important to try and find time away from the game to recharge a little bit and appreciate things you don’t get to do when you’re working.”
‘There is a delicate balance between feeling privileged to work in the Premier League and the high demands any manager places on himself.
“It’s not always easy because you want to be the best you can be, but when you’re out of a job, that’s your time to step back, take a breather, and realize family is the true positive of that side,” the speaker says.
Another candidate is Philippe Clement, the former coach of Monaco who was fired in June, along with Pascal Jansen of AZ Alkmaar.
The position has also been linked to Kevin Muscat, a former Rangers defender who is currently the manager of the Japanese outfit Yokohama F Marinos.
