Arsenal has been keeping tabs on Pedro Neto of Wolverhampton Wanderers for nearly a year, according to Fabrizio Romano.
On “The Daily Briefing,” the journalist said that Wolves had indeed rejected certain summer offers from teams for Neto.
In a race that is “absolutely open,” Romano added, Arsenal will have tough competition to get Neto.
He declared: “As I said last week, the Portuguese winger will probably be transferred in 2024.
“Wolves rejected approaches in the summer, and there is no assurance that they will allow a sale in January. However, let’s wait until 2024 to see whether it will be the summer or January since clubs will start to come.
“A little over a year ago, Arsenal wanted Neto.
Although other teams are keeping an eye on the issue, they have always been interested in the player and continue to monitor him.
Of course, Neto joining Arsenal in the middle of the campaign would be a great help.
On Sunday, Arsenal was able to defeat Manchester City using their available options despite missing some key players.
Recent injuries to Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka have particularly emphasized the necessity for one more top winger in Arsenal’s lineup, according to Romano, who claims that the club may struggle to sign Neto in January.
Leandro Trossard, a fantastic backup, has unfortunately endured injuries at the same time.
But it does seem as though Mikel Arteta has some reservations about players like Reiss Nelson.
Last night, the Arsenal manager decided against using Nelson off the bench and instead elected to push Gabriel Jesus out wide once more.
It’s possible that Arsenal’s admission that they’ve always been interested in Neto stems from their desire to find an improvement.
And based on his early-season performance, there is no question that Neto, who cost £50 million, might advance to a top team.
