Wrong Chelsea Penalty! SCOOP! Arsenal 0–1 Chelsea (Palmer 15 pen)
Later today, Chelsea and Arsenal will play a major Premier League London derby. The main event of the weekend will include this match as Maurico Pochettino’s Blues team gets ready for their most important test to date. Although the Argentina national team has shown signs of improvement recently, few will contest that Mikel Arteta’s championship-chasing team is a better team than it was this season.
After all, the Gunners entered the most recent international break fresh from a victory over Manchester City that could have changed the course of history. There is a genuine confidence that Arsenal can outperform last season in the title fight after strengthening during the summer.
Even so, Chelsea has dominated this matchup for years, though Arsenal is beginning to change that. It will be quite the spectacle—a bitter encounter between two capital equivalents.
How things came to pass:
Sterling crosses from the right after 12 minutes. Mudryk moves ahead. Saliba’s arm, held shoulder high, clanks when the ball bounces off it. The referee isn’t interested, but VAR checks, and he’s ushered over to the monitor for a closer look when play finally stops.
Chelsea faces a penalty!
14 minutes: The referee points to the location after determining that Saliba’s arm was in an abnormal position. That’s a logical choice in light of the Diaz-Keane incident that occurred at Anfield earlier today. Palmer, accept.
Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea (Palmer 15 pen)
Palmer slides so comfortably to the lower left. Raya made a mistake. That was such a confident finish, and Saliba’s mistake gave Chelsea the lead!
The ball was too close to William Saliba’s hand for him to react or move his hand out of the way, hence the referee ruled that Chelsea was not awarded a penalty.
The referee and VAR examined the situation but yet chose to give The Blues a penalty. Completely ridiculous, speaking again of the Premier League.
