Jadon Sancho’s representatives are firm in their stance that the player won’t be compelled to leave Manchester United to the highest bidder, despite keen interest from various European clubs and Saudi Arabia. Although Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s potential acquisition of a 25% stake in the club is nearing completion, it’s understood that Sancho’s departure from United during the January transfer window is likely.
Sancho’s exclusion from the first team stems from a fallout with manager Erik ten Hag after a defeat against Arsenal earlier in the season. The player publicly contradicted his manager on social media, leading to strained relations. Ten Hag sought an apology from Sancho to reconcile, but with no sign of this happening, their relationship seems irreparable.
Multiple clubs have shown interest in Sancho over the past year, but few can afford a financial package that satisfies United for his sale. Loan deals seem more feasible, although interest from Saudi clubs doesn’t attract Sancho, who remains hesitant about such a move.
Sancho’s camp has asserted that they will decide his next move, although changes in decision-makers within Old Trafford might occur by early 2024. Despite his desire to return to Borussia Dortmund, where he previously played, the financial commitments made by United during his transfer in 2021 complicate a straightforward return. A loan to Dortmund could be an option if United is flexible, as Sancho is willing to reduce his wages to secure a move back to Germany.
Juventus has shown interest, but similar to Dortmund, they’re not positioned to meet United’s expected fee for a permanent transfer. United is open to loan deals with clauses triggering permanent moves based on appearances, while also considering longer-term loans to increase Sancho’s market value. Additionally, clubs in Spain have also shown interest.
Although Turkey is an option, Sancho prefers staying in one of Europe’s top leagues to revive his career.
