Liverpool is facing a charge from the Football Association for their inability to manage their players’ behavior during the 4-1 loss to Manchester City.
A group of Liverpool players surrounded referee Simon Hooper, urging him to issue a second yellow card to City’s Rodri for a challenge on Cody Gakpo.
The FA stated, “Liverpool FC has been charged for the incident where their players encircled the match official during the 34th minute of their Premier League match against Manchester City FC,” adding that it’s alleged Liverpool failed to ensure their players behaved in an orderly manner and avoided improper conduct.
The club has until April 12 to respond to these charges. Currently in eighth place in the league standings, Liverpool’s next match is against league leaders Arsenal, scheduled for Sunday.
