Football, an unpredictable sport, often defies expectations. Nonetheless, a group of football analysts has attempted to forecast the final standings of the Premier League.
The North London duo, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, have begun the 2023/24 season successfully, currently positioned in third and second place respectively. They are trailing Manchester City, last season’s treble winners, by only one point. The Reds, led by Pep Guardiola, secured Arsenal’s Premier League title, marking their first since 2003/04, despite Arsenal leading the table for 248 days.
With an unbeaten run in the current campaign, Arsenal aims to rectify the previous season’s setback. Meanwhile, Chelsea, despite a recent 2-0 win over Fulham, is working on improving from a slow start that has placed their £1 billion investment in the bottom half of the table.
However, according to football analysts at Online Sportsbook BetVictor, Chelsea might face a downfall, projected to drop two places from their current 11th spot by the season’s end.
The algorithm also predicts that Arsenal’s quest for the Premier League title might end in disappointment yet again, with players like Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, and Kyle Walker guiding Manchester City to their fifth title in the last six seasons.
Despite a strong start under their new manager Ange Postecoglou, Spurs are anticipated to decline throughout the season and finish below teams such as Aston Villa, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Newcastle United. This projection sees Manchester United landing in a disappointing eighth place.
At the bottom of the table, Luton Town’s chances of relegation have decreased to 32% following their recent 2-1 victory over Everton. Bournemouth, Sheffield United, and Burnley are the three teams expected to drop into the Championship, with two of these teams having recently moved up to the top flight.
Wolverhampton Wanderers, following a surprising win against Guardiola’s side, have seen a notable boost in their chances of survival. They are forecasted to finish above Everton in 15th place, with only a 16% chance of relegation. Brentford (9th), West Ham United (10th), Crystal Palace (11th), Nottingham Forest (13th), and Fulham (14th) round out the mid-table positions.
