Roberto De Zerbi expressed his belief that Arsenal stands as the Premier League’s top team this season after witnessing the Gunners convincingly defeat his Brighton side at the Emirates Stadium.
Temporarily reclaiming their place at the league’s summit, Arsenal secured a comprehensive 2-0 victory against a team that had previously won on their last three visits to North London.
The Gunners broke the deadlock eight minutes into the second half courtesy of Gabriel Jesus and sealed the win late on, with the highly impressive Kai Havertz finding the net for the fourth time in seven matches.

This marked Brighton’s first failure to score this season, prompting De Zerbi to acknowledge his team’s outclassing by Arsenal, a side he believes is well-positioned to surpass their runner-up finish to Manchester City last season.
De Zerbi remarked, “Arsenal played much better than us. They deserved to win the game. We suffered a lot. I think Arsenal are among the best, maybe even the best team in the Premier League this season. We are not accustomed to such adversity. We are accustomed to dictating the game’s tempo.”
Conversely, Mikel Arteta was delighted by what he considered possibly his team’s most complete performance of the season so far.
“Outstanding, incredible,” praised the thrilled Arsenal manager. “A huge compliment to the team and the players. I believe we delivered an outstanding performance against a top-tier team. Our victory was well-deserved.
“I must commend them because I am aware of the challenges Brighton presents to opponents. We prevented that from happening, so I am extremely pleased.”
