Nicolas Jackson, a Chelsea forward, had a rather disappointing moment as he squandered a clear opportunity and had a goal disallowed for offside against Crystal Palace.
Conor Gallagher delivered an exquisite pass to set up Jackson, 22, for a clear shot at the goal; all he needed was to outwit the goalkeeper.
Despite the attempt, Jackson missed the goal to the dismay of the away supporters at Stamford Bridge, trying to chip Dean Henderson.
However, his misfortune continued as VAR annulled his goal within a minute. Thiago Silva provided an impressive cross, which Jackson skillfully converted with a stunning finish. Unfortunately, VAR intervened, spotting that his knee was slightly offside.
Fortunately for Jackson, Chelsea secured a 2-1 victory through a stoppage-time penalty from Noni Madueke, averting any further misfortune for his teammates.
Mauricio Pochettino’s team initially led with early first-half goals by Mykhailo Mudryk and later equalized just before halftime with a composed finish by Michael Olise.
Despite this, Chelsea claimed all three points, climbing to tenth place in the Premier League standings. Meanwhile, Palace remains just three points clear of the relegation zone.
