Kylian Mbappe has released an official statement regarding his potential move to Chelsea FC during this January transfer window.

The transfer buzz has begun as the January window opens, with Chelsea expected to be prominent in the discussions. A year ago, the club made headlines signing eight new players for nearly £300 million, yet they now have other priorities.

A new striker is a position many predict Chelsea will aim for, particularly with the availability of Kylian Mbappe. His exclusion from PSG’s preseason squad and refusal to extend his contract suggests an imminent departure. Despite PSG’s attempts to block a move to Real Madrid, other clubs, including Chelsea, are likely to bid for him.

Chelsea’s previous connection with Mbappe from his trial in the early 2010s makes them a possible destination. However, football.london questions the viability of such a deal and its financial implications. Despite the financial aspect, securing Mbappe would be a significant opportunity given his caliber, even if it’s rare to land such talent without a hefty transfer fee.

While Mbappe’s arrival might enhance the team, Chelsea’s current status outside the Champions League could hinder a potential move. Nevertheless, the competition for forwards is fierce, with Arsenal also in pursuit.

Apart from Mbappe, Chelsea has been monitoring Victor Osimhen for a while and might consider a bid this month. Despite his recent contract with Napoli, speculations of his departure persist, and Chelsea is reportedly exploring an end-of-season deal, similar to their acquisition of Nkunku.

Football.london emphasizes that though adding a top striker could significantly boost Chelsea’s position, rushing into a less optimal deal may not be wise. They suggest that while Osimhen’s return in January seems unlikely, any deal should prioritize quality over haste. Although securing Champions League assurances might be a challenge, a connection through Didier Drogba might entice Osimhen to join despite Chelsea’s current ranking. Initiating negotiations now is advised to avoid potential missteps later on.
