According to reports from GOAL, Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is reportedly considering a move to the Saudi Pro League in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) has reignited its interest in the Belgian star, known for its involvement in significant football deals.
The PIF, recognized for pursuing high-profile football acquisitions, has once again targeted De Bruyne as a top priority for the forthcoming transfer window. De Bruyne’s contract with Manchester City is set to expire in 2025, fueling speculation about a potential move in the summer of 2024, with just one year left on his current contract.
- This isn’t the first time Saudi teams have shown interest in De Bruyne. In October 2023, Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo’s club, reportedly showed interest in signing the 32-year-old midfielder. Additionally, Al-Qadsiah, a second-tier Saudi team, also displayed interest in acquiring his services.
De Bruyne’s appearances for Manchester City in the 2023-2024 season have been limited due to injury. A muscular injury suffered in the season’s opening match against Burnley led to surgery, resulting in an extended period on the sidelines. However, the Belgian has recently resumed training and has been included in the squad for the match against Sheffield United on December 30.
