The agent responsible for Hakim Ziyech’s transfer from Chelsea to Galatasaray has refuted claims that Ziyech requested the termination of his loan agreement this month. Despite rumors of a potential comeback to Chelsea, Ziyech moved to Galatasaray on loan over the summer under contract terms.
Reports from Turkey suggest that Galatasaray might consider ending the loan deal early this month. However, the agent involved in Ziyech’s transfer to Turkey addressed these speculations.
Tom Gott authored the report released on January 2, 2024, discussing rumors about Ziyech’s departure from Galatasaray, illustrated by a photo provided by Ahmad Mora via Getty Images.
Galatasaray previously clarified that no payment was made for the arrangement, securing the right to recruit Ziyech on a free transfer the following summer, arranged at the end of the previous summer’s loan deal.
A report by Turkish publication DHA suggested Galatasaray’s interest in terminating the loan due to concerns about Ziyech’s performance. Rumors were fueled by quotes attributed to agent George Gardi, indicating Galatasaray’s intentions to cut the deal short.
However, Gardi labeled these comments as “fake news” on social media, denying making any statement regarding Ziyech.
Ziyech, who left Chelsea last summer, has made 14 appearances for Galatasaray this season before joining Morocco for the Africa Cup of Nations. During his tenure at Galatasaray, he contributed two assists and scored four goals across all competitions.
The future remains uncertain for Ziyech. Although Chelsea holds his contract until 2025, if Galatasaray does not sign him at the end of the current season, his return to Mauricio Pochettino’s revamped squad seems improbable.
Ziyech last played for Chelsea in May 2023 as a late substitute in a 4-1 loss to Manchester United, providing an assist. Former manager Frank Lampard played a pivotal role in Ziyech’s move to Stamford Bridge for a fee of £33 million three years ago.
During his three-year tenure at Chelsea with 107 appearances, Ziyech contributed 13 assists and scored 14 goals. He notably played a significant role in the club’s 2021 Champions League victory, their second in history.
