Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), expressing concerns about the possible departure of Kylian Mbappe, is reportedly revisiting their interest in Marcus Rashford as they seek left-wingers in anticipation of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Previously considering the signing of the Manchester United star before his contract extension in the summer, PSG is now reevaluating the potential acquisition. Rashford, who scored 30 goals last season, has encountered challenges in replicating that form and has attracted attention for off-field incidents this season.
The 26-year-old recently called in sick for Manchester United’s FA Cup match against Newport County, citing consecutive nights spent at a Belfast nightclub. While head coach Erik ten Hag referred to the situation as an “internal matter,” Rashford has not faced public punishment, despite this being the second instance in four months where he missed work due to partying. In contrast, Jadon Sancho was temporarily excluded from the Man Utd squad in September for disciplinary reasons.
Speculation about Rashford’s future has heightened following the recent incident, with rumors suggesting a potential departure from the club. However, the latest report indicates that Manchester United has no intention of parting ways with their academy graduate.
PSG, on the other hand, could emerge as a potential destination for Rashford, offering him an exit route from Manchester if Mbappe decides to leave the French club. Currently, Mbappe’s decision about departing PSG remains uncertain.
While selling Rashford could provide additional funds, along with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s investment, facilitating the reshaping of the Manchester United squad, the report suggests that signing the English star is not presently the top priority on PSG’s agenda. The situation remains dynamic, with ongoing discussions and considerations surrounding the futures of both Rashford and Mbappe in the upcoming transfer window.
