The spouse of Chelsea defender Thiago Silva seems to have advocated for the removal of Mauricio Pochettino after the team’s 4-2 loss to Wolves. Despite an early lead from Cole Palmer, Chelsea faced a setback as Matheus Cunha equalized and an own goal by Axel Disasi gave Wolves a narrow lead at halftime.
The Blues’ performance led to booing from fans at halftime, and the situation worsened as Cunha completed a hat-trick in the second half. Thiago Silva scored a late goal, but discontent among fans was evident.
Amid Chelsea fans’ dissatisfaction with Pochettino, Thiago Silva’s wife, Belle, seemingly called for a change on social media just before full-time. Her tweet, “It’s time to change. If you wait any longer, it will be too late,” was perceived as a reference to Pochettino. While some fans supported her statement, others questioned the professionalism of a current player’s spouse publicly criticizing the manager.
This is not the first time Belle Silva has used social media to express dissatisfaction with Chelsea; she criticized the team last season while under Graham Potter’s management. Chelsea currently sits 11th in the Premier League table, trailing 15 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa. Despite significant spending in the last 18 months, achieving a top-four finish or European qualification appears challenging for Chelsea at this point.
