David de Gea rejected an opportunity to join a Premier League club in January after being released by Manchester United last summer. Despite links with a move to Saudi Arabia, the 33-year-old goalkeeper turned down an approach from a Premier League team during the January transfer window.
Nottingham Forest, according to The Athletic, attempted to sign De Gea, highlighting the potential value of playing regular football until the season’s end. However, he declined their ‘short-term’ offer. Forest also inquired about the availability of Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal but eventually secured the services of Matz Sels from Strasbourg for £5.1 million.

Nuno Espirito Santo now has a goalkeeper roster comprising Matt Turner, Wayne Hennessey, Odysseas Vlachodimos, and Matz Sels. While De Gea has been linked with Newcastle United, he remains a free agent, and despite the transfer window closing, he can still secure a new club.
The Spanish goalkeeper, who played 545 games for Manchester United, contributing to various trophy victories, including the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and Europa League, continues his search for a new club after 12 years with the Red Devils. He has also earned 45 caps for Spain.
