Real Madrid is reportedly considering a move for two key players from Manchester United if their plans to sign Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland don’t materialize.
Real Madrid has a history of pursuing top talent, as seen with Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham in the past, even at the expense of Manchester United.
According to DefensaCentral, Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Pérez, and other senior figures have instructed chief scout Juni Calafat to monitor Rasmus Højlund.
The La Liga side sees him as a reliable backup option if they fail to secure Mbappe or Haaland. Additionally, Fichajes reports that Real Madrid is also interested in Alejandro Garnacho, with Calafat leading this pursuit.
Garnacho, 19, has attracted Madrid’s attention due to his experience in Spain’s youth academies, previously with Atletico Madrid before joining Manchester United in 2020.
Under the guidance of Erik ten Hag, Garnacho and Højlund have formed a promising partnership. However, prying either player away from Old Trafford, let alone both, would require a significant financial investment.
