Rasmus Hojlund has suffered an injury and will be sidelined for a period of two to three weeks.

Rasmus Hojlund has sustained an injury, sidelining him for the next two to three weeks of Manchester United’s season.

The club announced this unfortunate news ahead of Erik ten Hag’s upcoming press conference, expected within the next hour.

Amid an already unprecedented season of injury woes, this setback leaves Erik ten Hag without a senior striker in his squad.

Hojlund reportedly pulled a muscle during training, forcing him to miss the upcoming home game against Fulham and Wednesday’s FA Cup clash with Nottingham Forest.

His absence will extend to the Manchester derby next Sunday and a home fixture against Everton the following weekend.

The last match Hojlund could potentially miss is another home game against Sheffield United on March 16th, before the international break.

This news comes as a blow to the young Dane, who has been in impressive form, scoring seven goals in his last six games and contributing significantly to United’s unbeaten run in 2024.

With Anthony Martial already into the third week of his own 10-week layoff and several other key players ruled out due to injury, including Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw, Erik ten Hag finds himself grappling with squad selection challenges once again.

As new part-owners INEOS take charge of football operations at Old Trafford, one of their immediate tasks is likely to involve an investigation into the fitness and medical departments.

Initially thought to be a consequence of an intense previous season, the ongoing spate of injuries suggests deeper issues that need to be addressed promptly.
