Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has been closely watching the Premier League title race and confidently stated, “We are prepared to launch an offensive.”
City secured a 6-2 victory over Luton Town on Tuesday evening, advancing to the FA Cup quarterfinals at Kenilworth Road. Haaland showcased an impressive performance, scoring five goals for Pep Guardiola’s side, including a hat-trick within the first 40 minutes of the game.
Haaland, who recently recovered from an ankle injury that sidelined him for two months, has been in prolific form, scoring seven goals in his last six matches. With talisman Kevin De Bruyne also back to his best after a prolonged hamstring injury, he provided assists for Haaland’s first four goals against Luton.
The duo aims to lead City to their fourth consecutive Premier League title. Currently trailing leaders Liverpool by a single point, City faces a crucial encounter at Anfield next Sunday. Arsenal sits one point behind in third place.
Haaland issued a firm warning to Liverpool as they vie for the trophy, stating to ITV Sport, “It’s coming, and we’re coming.”
Regarding his fitness, Haaland expressed confidence, stating, “I’m returning to peak condition. Finally feeling fantastic. It’s an exhilarating sensation. Exciting times ahead. We’re ready to launch an attack.”
However, City suffered another setback during their victory over Luton. Jack Grealish was forced off in the 38th minute due to a recurrence of a groin injury, visibly distraught on the bench. Manager Pep Guardiola commented, “I haven’t spoken to the doctor yet, but it seems he complained about his groin, so it may be similar.”
