Pochettino faces pressure to offload a key Chelsea player following a significant error during the match against Leeds United.
Axel Disasi, a defender at Chelsea, is under scrutiny and urged to “exit the club” after a notable blunder in the FA Cup clash versus Leeds.
Despite being a pivotal figure in Chelsea’s defense this season, appearing in 34 matches across all competitions, the 25-year-old had a rough start in the recent game. His mistake early in the match led to Leeds scoring their opening goal.
Just eight minutes into the game at Stamford Bridge, goalkeeper Robert Sanchez passed the ball to Disasi near the penalty area. However, Disasi hesitated, allowing two Leeds players to intercept the ball intended for Moises Caicedo.
As a result, Caicedo lost possession, and Mateo Joseph capitalized on the opportunity, beating Sanchez to give Leeds a 1-0 advantage. Disasi’s performance, along with Caicedo’s, drew ire from Chelsea fans, expressing frustration with their poor display.
Some fans voiced their discontent, urging Disasi to leave the team, criticizing his contribution and performance.
The Daily Star quoted one angry supporter saying, “Just leave, man…you don’t bring anything to this team.” Another fan expressed disappointment, stating, “Glad to see the real Disasi is back after a good two games.”
Despite Disasi’s error, Chelsea managed to equalize through Nicolas Jackson and subsequently took the lead with a goal from Mykhailo Mudryk. However, Leeds responded with another goal from Joseph, leveling the score again.
Nevertheless, Chelsea secured a late victory with Conor Gallagher’s goal, securing a 3-2 win and advancing to the next round of the FA Cup. The upcoming quarterfinal will see Chelsea facing Leicester City, a team from the Championship.
