INEOS director of sport, Sir Dave Brailsford, dismissed a Manchester United fan’s request to bring Kylian Mbappe to Old Trafford with a laugh.
It was revealed on Thursday that Mbappe had informed Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi of his intention to leave the club when his contract expires this summer, sparking interest from top clubs across Europe.
During a chance encounter captured on video, a young fan asked Brailsford, who will play a significant role in INEOS’ control of United once Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s takeover is finalized, about the possibility of signing Mbappe. Brailsford jokingly responded, “He’s set on going to Real Madrid, hasn’t he?”
While Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with Mbappe, Real Madrid is considered the frontrunner to secure his signature.
Mbappe has been free to negotiate with Madrid since January 1st, and while no agreement has been reached, Madrid remains confident of finalizing a deal.
Meanwhile, Manchester United is expected to pursue a new forward in the summer to support young talent Rasmus Hojlund, who has begun to adapt to English football after a slow start.
