In preparation for the inevitable conclusion of his tenure at the Etihad Stadium, Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has disclosed the name of the football club that will be his next destination.
Despite the fact that fans of Manchester City will not even want to consider what life will be like after their renowned Catalan coach leaves the football club, that time is drawing nearer, and Jurgen Klopp’s unexpected departure from Liverpool has provided a glimpse into what that time might be like.
Now, Guardiola himself has provided some insight into what his life would be like after Manchester City and a period of time with the Premier League giants that has seen him win everything that is possible, culminating in the three-peat that he achieved in the previous season.
In a span of just three weeks, Manchester City was victorious in three different competitions: the Premier League, where they overcame Arsenal; the FA Cup, where they triumphed over their fierce rivals Manchester United; and the UEFA Champions League final, which they won against Inter in Istanbul, Turkey.
Those honors were subsequently followed by additional international success for the reigning champions, as they won the UEFA Super Cup in Athens and then went on to win the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia in December. Both of these victories came to them after they had already won the championship.
Pep Guardiola has stated his intention to compete for honors at the international level, with an even clearer aim to contend for a FIFA World Cup trophy with one country. This revelation was made by Guardiola in an interview with ESPN Brasil this week, which ESPN translated and transmitted to ESPN.
“A national team,” Guardiola is quoted as saying in response to the question of what he still has to accomplish in the sport after having a remarkable career at the club level. It is my dream to be able to coach a national team that competes in either the World Cup or the European Championship. I would be interested in that.
However, Pep Guardiola did not express any choice on the nation that he would like to lead in the future. He stated, “I don’t know who would want me and I don’t know who would want me!” In the same way that a club would want you to work for them, a national team would need to want you.
“When I first started working in this field, I never gave any attention to the possibility of winning a league championship or the Champions League.
No. What was I thinking? I have a job? Okay,” Guardiola persisted further. “I would love to have the opportunity to experience what it would be like to live through a World Cup, a Euro, a Copa América, or any other sporting event.
“That is something that I would enjoy. “I do not know when that would be, whether it is five, ten, or fifteen years from now, but I would like to have the experience of being a manager in a World Cup.”
As of right now, Manchester City will almost surely be keeping an eye on the possibility of convincing Pep Guardiola to prolong his tenure with the club even further. This is especially true when considering the fact that the landmark of a decade in command of the club is only two seasons away.
