Martial’s contract with Manchester United is set to expire at the conclusion of the current season, and according to Romano, there’s no likelihood of it being extended.
Although United would be open to selling him in January, there are currently no clubs willing to cover both his transfer fee and salary. However, if a move doesn’t materialize this month, a Bosman transfer at the end of the season is guaranteed.
Romano expressed his belief that Martial will depart Manchester United, stating, “I don’t see any chance for Martial to stay at Manchester United beyond summer 2024.”
He further mentioned that United will likely seek a new striker once Martial leaves, as it’s an expected outcome beneficial for both parties.
Martial arrived at Manchester United in 2015 as the world’s most expensive teenager, but despite flashes of brilliance, he has failed to fully realize his potential, especially in recent years.
His productivity has declined significantly, with only 12 Premier League goals in the last three and a half seasons and just two goals in all competitions during the 2023-24 campaign.
Throughout his tenure at United, Martial has amassed 90 goals in 317 appearances, making this his ninth season with the club, despite only turning 28 in December.
While he has won four trophies with United, including the 2016 FA Cup, 2017 League Cup, 2016 Community Shield, and 2017 Europa League, these achievements are considered relatively minor in comparison.
