Today, Jose Mourinho was announced as the new manager of a Premier League club!

After his dismissal as Roma’s manager on Tuesday due to a disappointing performance that left the team in ninth place in Serie A, Jose Mourinho is assessing his next steps, according to 90min.

Mourinho’s contract with Roma was due to end this summer, and he had expressed his wish to continue with the club.

Sources have informed 90min that while Mourinho currently has no immediate plans, the decision to part ways was primarily Roma’s choice. Nonetheless, he is expected to receive multiple offers.

Recent rumors have linked Mourinho with a potential return to the Premier League, specifically with his former club Chelsea and Newcastle United.

However, 90min reports that a move to either of these clubs in the near future would be unexpected, and no firm offers have been made.

Despite Chelsea’s inconsistent performance this season, the club’s ownership intends to remain patient with current manager Mauricio Pochettino.

They plan to assess his performance no earlier than the summer, even though he has faced criticism from fans and there is a risk of being knocked out by Championship team Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

Newcastle, on the other hand, is inclined to continue supporting their manager, Eddie Howe, despite the team’s struggles with a significant injury crisis this season.

Mourinho has previously expressed interest in coaching in Saudi Arabia, and 90min reports that he would likely receive an offer from the Saudi Pro League by the summer if he remains unemployed.

Al Hilal had previously come close to offering Mourinho a lucrative £30m-a-year contract, but with the team currently leading the table and competing for another Asian Champions League title, a change in management seems unlikely in the short term.

However, both Al Ahli and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr have shown interest in hiring Mourinho for managerial roles in the past and could revisit the idea.

Mourinho is also considering the possibility of coaching a national team, with several managerial positions expected to become available after Euro 2024 and the Copa America, leading up to the 2026 World Cup.

He is reportedly open to taking on the England job should Gareth Southgate step down after the Euros, although Southgate has expressed his desire to continue in his role.
