Following Manchester City’s 2-1 FA Cup final loss to Manchester United, City supporters targeted two of their own players on social media.
City, who defeated United in the previous year’s FA Cup final, were favorites to win the trophy again. However, Erik ten Hag’s team disrupted their plans from the start, with Alejandro Garnacho scoring early after a long ball confused City’s defense.
Kobbie Mainoo then doubled United’s lead with a close-range finish, giving them a 2-0 advantage at halftime.
In the second half, goalkeeper Andre Onana made several crucial saves, and Erling Haaland nearly scored when he hit the crossbar. Jeremy Doku scored late to give City hope, but United held on to secure the title.
City fans were critical of Haaland, who did not score, and Kevin De Bruyne, who was substituted after a tough afternoon at Wembley in the 56th minute.
Online comments included criticism of De Bruyne’s performance and Haaland’s inability to win headers against Lisandro Martinez.
Despite the loss, City ended the season with their fourth consecutive Premier League trophy. Questions about Erik ten Hag’s future as United’s manager remain, but his tactical approach and performance at Wembley have bolstered his position.
