According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea FC is willing to send a valuable player to Napoli as part of a deal to sign Victor Osimhen. Napoli’s president has agreed to release Osimhen in exchange for Cole Palmer. Todd Boehly, Chelsea’s owner, is keen on signing the Nigerian striker and is willing to make this deal happen. However, Napoli wants one of Chelsea’s most valuable assets in return, making it a give-and-take situation.
To fund Osimhen’s acquisition, Chelsea plans to sell academy graduates, including Ian Maatsen, who is impressing on loan at Borussia Dortmund. Maatsen has a release clause of €35-40 million, and Dortmund is interested in signing him permanently. Chelsea is likely to accept a sale within that price range to finance Osimhen’s transfer, especially with PSG also pursuing the Nigerian international.
Chelsea is also prepared to offload Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah as part of a first-team roster reshuffle. However, Maatsen’s move to Dortmund appears to be their primary focus currently. The potential transfer of Maatsen and other players will help Chelsea generate funds to sign Osimhen, valued at approximately €120 million.
