Atlético Madrid is reportedly employing strategies to secure Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez, with players “pushing” for an agreement.
Alvarez, who had a standout season with 19 goals and 13 assists in 54 appearances, has attracted significant interest following his successful stint with Manchester City.
David Medina of Marca, via Atletico Universe on X, reports that Atlético Madrid is determined to acquire Alvarez, despite knowing that negotiations with City will be challenging.
The club sees Alvarez as their top target for the summer and has already made initial approaches.
Atlético’s Argentine players, including Rodrigo De Paul, Nahuel Molina, and Angel Correa, are actively encouraging Alvarez to join during their time together with the national team for Copa América.
Alvarez’s versatility and success, including winning the Premier League and the Champions League, have drawn comparisons to City legends Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero.
Despite this, City maintains a policy of allowing players to leave if they express a desire to do so and if the terms are favorable.
Additionally, Julian Alvarez reportedly wants to participate in the Olympics due to limited playing time under Pep Guardiola, suggesting he may leave Manchester City, but potentially for a club larger than Atlético Madrid.
