Manchester City’s Oscar Bobb has suffered a severe injury just days before the new Premier League season begins.
Man City, aiming to secure a record-breaking fifth consecutive Premier League title in 2024-25, had expected Oscar Bobb to be a key player in their campaign.
The 21-year-old winger impressed with several impactful performances last season, including a late goal in a 3-2 victory over Newcastle in January.
Bobb had a stellar pre-season with City and assisted the team’s equalizer in the Community Shield match against Manchester United on Saturday.
The Norwegian international was anticipated to be one of Pep Guardiola’s top options on the right wing this season, but on Wednesday, it was revealed that Bobb had fractured a bone in his leg.
Speculation about the injury began circulating early Wednesday evening, and Jack Gaughan of the Daily Mail confirmed the news.
Although City has not yet conducted a full assessment, it is clear that Bobb will be sidelined for several months.
With Bobb out, Guardiola’s primary choice on the right wing is new signing Savio, though Phil Foden and Jeremy Doku can also fill the role.
This significant injury setback, along with Julian Alvarez’s move to Atletico Madrid, may push City to search for a new attacking player.
City will begin their Premier League title defense with a potentially challenging match at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea on Sunday, August 18.
