Manchester City forward Jack Grealish revealed that his new goal celebration is dedicated to his newborn daughter after scoring in England’s 3-1 Nations League win against Finland.
Grealish netted the opening goal for England in the first half, finishing off a brilliant pass from Angel Gomes.
His celebration, where he sucked his thumb at the camera, was a tribute to his newborn daughter, Mila Rose, an emotional gesture for his girlfriend, Sasha Atwood, who gave birth at the end of September. Grealish publicly shared the news last week.
Speaking to ITV Sport after the match, Grealish said, “Yeah, that celebration was for my little girl, bless her. I’m really happy, so that one’s for her.” Manchester City fans will likely hope to see more of this celebration throughout the season.
Although Grealish hasn’t scored in the Premier League yet this season, he has contributed two assists and has been a more significant player for Guardiola this term, compared to last season when he was more on the fringes of the squad and missed out on a place in England’s European Championship team.
