Erling Haaland has broken his silence following Manchester City’s 2-1 loss to Bournemouth. Andoni Iraola’s team defeated the Premier League champions at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon, giving Liverpool a significant boost in the title race.
Antoine Semenyo opened the scoring for Bournemouth in the early minutes, and Evanilson added another just after the hour mark. Josko Gvardiol managed to pull one back for City in the closing moments, but Bournemouth held strong on the south coast.
With Liverpool claiming three points against Brighton, Pep Guardiola’s team now trails by two points in the title race.
After the game, Haaland expressed his frustration on Instagram, posting, “Head down, back to work,” along with a photo from the match. Gvardiol also shared a post, featuring a moment with Tyler Adams and referring to him as “brate,” which means “brother” in Croatian.
The two previously played together 30 times for RB Leipzig in the 2021/2022 season, where they finished fourth in the Bundesliga, reached the Europa League semifinals, and won the DFB-Pokal.
Speaking to reporters after the Bournemouth game, Guardiola noted that his players lacked the sharpness that the Cherries displayed.
