Ruben Dias, John Stones, and Jack Grealish will miss Manchester City’s crucial match against Brighton, further complicating City’s defensive lineup as they aim to keep pace with Liverpool.
Dias remains sidelined with a muscle injury, which has already kept him out of City’s last two games, while Stones is dealing with a foot issue.
Both players, along with Nathan Ake, were left out of their national teams for the upcoming international break.
Ake, who was benched against Sporting this week, saw young Jahmai Simpson-Pusey make his debut in his place. Should Ake remain unavailable, Rico Lewis could start on the left, with Kyle Walker on the right and Josko Gvardiol at center-back.
Additionally, Guardiola revealed that Jack Grealish isn’t fully fit after a recent injury spell, contradicting England interim manager Lee Carsley’s statement on Grealish’s condition.
Grealish has been named in England’s squad for upcoming games, with Carsley noting he has trained the past two days and will be assessed upon arrival. However, Guardiola countered, saying Grealish only practiced briefly on Friday.
When asked, Guardiola remarked, “That’s a question for the England manager. No, he’s not fit. Like in Lisbon, there’s no new positive update. The same players are available for the trip.”
