Manchester City suffered their first Premier League defeat of the season against Bournemouth, despite fielding a team weakened by injuries.
Previously, Bournemouth had drawn with Aston Villa and claimed a win over Arsenal at the Vitality Stadium.
In midweek, City’s rotated lineup narrowly lost to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup, marking their first defeat of the season. This Premier League loss became City’s second consecutive setback overall.
Pep Guardiola brought back Jeremy Doku, Kyle Walker, and Kevin De Bruyne, with Josko Gvardiol, Savinho, and Manu Akanji recovering from injuries. However, Ruben Dias and John Stones were sidelined with injuries.
City’s struggles were evident as they trailed in the first half after Antoine Semenyo’s goal. Though Josko Gvardiol provided a late goal in response, City ultimately fell 2-1 at the Vitality following a second-half goal by Evanilson.
