Manchester City are reportedly preparing a substantial offer for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo as they seek to strengthen their attacking options in January.
The Brazilian international has been the subject of transfer rumors, with City emerging as a potential destination. Liverpool and Arsenal are also monitoring his situation, showing widespread interest in the 23-year-old.
According to Fichajes, City is set to submit a €150 million (£126.2m / $163.2m) bid for Rodrygo, which, if accepted, would make him the most expensive signing in Premier League history.
Pep Guardiola is said to have identified Rodrygo as a top target, partly due to ongoing uncertainty about Erling Haaland’s future, as the striker is linked with a potential move to Real Madrid.
Rodrygo, who can play on either wing or as a center-forward, has scored 57 goals and provided 43 assists in 229 appearances for Madrid.
However, negotiations could prove challenging for City, as Real Madrid sees Rodrygo as crucial for their future and may be unwilling to sell him at any price.
Man City’s search for a new winger
TEAMtalk sources indicate that, despite already having players like Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku, Phil Foden, and Savinho, City is eager to add depth to their wing options. While Barcelona’s Raphinha tops their current shortlist, his high price could compel Barcelona to sell due to financial issues.
Rodrygo has been linked to Premier League clubs in the past but remains under contract with Real Madrid until 2028 and has expressed no desire to leave.
“I still have a contract,” Rodrygo said over the summer. “When I say it was a pleasure to be here all these years, I don’t say it because I’m leaving, but because it has been a pleasure for me. It’s still a dream, I have a contract, and I’m sure I’ll stay.”
City’s interest in Bundesliga talent
Alongside their pursuit of a winger, TEAMtalk also reports that City is targeting a new attacking midfielder to succeed club legend Kevin De Bruyne.
