“He has scored 42 goals in just 59 matches since leaving Chelsea. We regret selling him so recklessly, as he’s now outperforming even our Erling Haaland,” Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola expresses his frustration with the club for selling the incredible “goal machine,” who left City for £90M and is now outscoring Haaland.

Manchester City’s poor performance in their 4-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur has led Jamie Redknapp to suggest that the team is badly missing one of their former players.

With the current five-game losing streak and concerns over their recent contract extension with manager Pep Guardiola, the team’s struggles have been under the spotlight.

The defeat to Spurs highlighted several issues, with key players like Erling Haaland having an off day in front of goal.

Despite being one of City’s top scorers, Haaland couldn’t find the net, and his teammates, including Jack Grealish, Bernardo Silva, Savinho, and Matheus Nunes, also failed to contribute significantly. This lack of goal-scoring support has been a persistent problem this season.

Redknapp specifically pointed out that City is missing Julian Alvarez, whom they sold in 2024. Alvarez had been a crucial player for City, providing creativity and goal-scoring ability from midfield, and his departure has left a noticeable gap in the squad that City has struggled to fill.

In addition to Redknapp’s comments, Tony Cascarino criticized Phil Foden for his recent loss of form, stating that the young midfielder needs to regain his confidence and find his rhythm on the pitch. Foden, once considered one of City’s brightest talents, has struggled to make an impact in recent matches.

With pressure mounting on Manchester City and several key players out of form, it’s clear that the team needs to find solutions fast. Fans will be hoping that Guardiola can turn things around and get City back to their winning ways.
