Erling Haaland had every reason to be frustrated after Manchester City suffered a 4-1 defeat to Sporting CP.
City was awarded a controversial penalty after Bernardo Silva’s shot struck the arm of Ousmane Diomande, with the midfielder in close proximity. Despite the questionable call, it gave City a chance to stage a comeback while trailing 3-1.
However, Haaland uncharacteristically missed from the spot, sending his penalty crashing against the crossbar. The miss proved costly, handing Sporting a reprieve and keeping City from narrowing the deficit.
