Aston Villa Pile Misery on Manchester City with Impressive Victory
Jhon Duran and Morgan Rogers found the net as Aston Villa secured a well-earned 2-1 win over struggling Manchester City at Villa Park, adding to Pep Guardiola’s mounting challenges.
Duran, in red-hot form, scored his fourth goal in as many games after a brilliant move involving Youri Tielemans and Rogers in the 16th minute.
City narrowly avoided an earlier deficit thanks to goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, who made stunning saves to deny efforts from Duran and Pau Torres within minutes.
Villa continued to dominate and doubled their lead in the 65th minute through Rogers, securing the victory. Phil Foden’s stoppage-time goal provided little consolation for the visitors.
The win propels Villa to fifth in the Premier League standings, while Manchester City drop to sixth, having now lost nine of their last 12 matches across all competitions.
