Chelsea have officially signed Portuguese forward João Félix from Atlético Madrid on a seven-year contract, with the transfer fee reported to be around £42 million. Félix, 24, previously had a loan spell at Chelsea during the 2022–23 season, scoring four goals in 20 appearances. He spent the last season on loan at Barcelona, netting 10 goals in 44 games. Originally joining Atlético Madrid from Benfica in 2019 for a club-record fee of €126 million, Félix contributed to their LaLiga title win in 2021, scoring 34 goals in 131 matches. Expressing his enthusiasm about returning to Stamford Bridge, Félix stated, “I am very happy to be back here and to help this team achieve its goals.” Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca highlighted Félix’s versatility, noting, “João is a player we know well, and we’re confident he will be a great addition to our squad.” This signing is part of Chelsea’s ongoing efforts to strengthen their attacking options for the current season.
