Chelsea Fans Urge Maresca to Drop Player After Nightmare Defeat to Man City
The Blues took an early lead in the third minute when Noni Madueke capitalized on a mistake by debutant Abdukodir Khusanov.
However, City equalized before halftime through Josko Gvardiol, and Erling Haaland made it 2-1 in the second half. Phil Foden later exploited defensive indecision to slot home City’s third, sealing a 3-1 victory for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Fans’ frustration, however, focused on an earlier error by goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. Before Haaland’s goal, Sanchez rushed out to intercept a long ball from Ederson but hesitated and backpedaled, leaving himself stranded as Haaland chipped the ball over him with ease.
While Haaland’s finish was clinical, Chelsea fans are demanding manager Enzo Maresca replace Sanchez with backup goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen for the next game.
