Manchester United is reportedly preparing an €80 million bid to acquire Dutch midfielder Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. Simons, 21, transferred from Paris Saint-Germain to Leipzig for £42 million and has since delivered impressive performances, scoring 10 goals in 43 games last season and adding five more in 17 appearances this season. Despite his recent permanent move, Leipzig is open to selling him for a fee between £58.5 million and £67 million.
Manchester United faces competition from Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester City, both keen on bolstering their midfield options. Liverpool views Simons as a potential successor to Mo Salah, while Manchester City considers him amid uncertainties surrounding Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva’s futures. Bayern Munich, previously interested, might also re-enter the race.
In addition, Manchester United is reportedly attempting to hijack Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Mathys Tel, aiming to strengthen their attacking lineup. Meanwhile, concerns arise as midfielder Casemiro could be sidelined due to injury, potentially impacting United’s midfield stability.
