Ian Maatsen, who is 21 years old, could leave Chelsea in January if he and the team can’t come to an understanding on a new contract.
The Telegraph says that the Dutch international and the Stamford Bridge team have not been able to agree on a new contract.
The young player’s contract is up at the end of the season, so if a deal hasn’t been made by then, the Blues might try to sell him during the January transfer window.
Maatsen spent last season on loan with Vincent Kompany’s Burnley team. On the last day of the transfer window, he turned down a chance to join the team after Chelsea accepted a £31.5m deal for the fullback.
Ian Maatsen has come on as a replacement three times for Mauricio Pochettino’s team in the Premier League this season. He made his second start when Chelsea beat Brighton in the Carabao Cup.
