Joy as Chelsea legend Eden Hazard prepares to return to the world of football
Unexpected: Football great Eden Hazard is anticipated to resume playing shortly.
Hazard is currently a free agent after leaving Real Madrid, who ended his contract in June.
However, L’Equipe reports that the winger will compete for a respectable cause.
The former Belgian international will take the field on October 18 for the Varietes Club de France at the Stade de L’Epopee in Calais.
The VCF, which was founded in 1971, fields some of the finest athletes in history to compete against various teams in about 40 charity matches each year.
This year, Hazard will visit to collaborate with World Cup winners Laurent Blanc and Didier Deschamps.
Two former teammates from Lille, Yohan Cabaye and Mathieu Debuchy, will also be traveling with the 32-year-old.
Since transferring from Chelsea to Real Madrid in 2019, the renowned Belgian’s career has fallen apart.
The attacker dominated the Premier League throughout his seven-year stay at Stamford Bridge, making 352 games and racking up 110 goals and 92 assists.
After leading the Blues to two Premier League crowns, two Europa League medals, the 2018 FA Cup, and the 2015 League Cup, Hazard signed a £130 million contract and moved to Santiago Bernabeu.
But because to his ongoing injury problems, the former Lille player’s dream move to Real Madrid was cut short after only four years. He finished his four-year stint with just seven goals and twelve assists in 76 games.
Los Blancos’ management decided to end his £400,000 per week contract as a result.
Hazard attracted a lot of interest during the summer transfer window. He received offers from teams like Marseille and Lille, his previous squad, but he declined them both.
