VAR footage from Chelsea’s victory over Tottenham last week was made public in the wake of several contentious calls made during the encounter between the two London rivals.

In a match that featured two red cards and numerous scores disallowed, the Blues defeated Spurs 4-1.

After Levi Colwill deflected Dejan Kulusevski’s shot into the Chelsea goal, Ange Postecoglou’s team gained an early lead.

After fifteen minutes, the game became chaotic as VAR was called upon multiple times, notably when Cristian Romero might have been sent off.

Moises Caicedo scored for Chelsea following a brawl in the Spurs penalty area; however, the goal was not recognized because Nicolas Jackson was offside and interfered with play.

Romero’s prior foul on Enzo Fernandez in the penalty area was examined by VAR, though.

After reviewing the play of the game, referee Michael Oliver signaled a straight red card for Romero and a penalty kick for Chelsea, which Cole Palmer converted to make the score 1-1.

PGMOL director Howard Webb commented on VAR’s decision to step in and give Romero a red card and a penalty for Chelsea, saying: “What a great game; tense, a great spectacle great for the Premier League.”

“In my opinion, the officials in the VAR center and on the field performed admirably.

This missed penalty is visible on the pitch, but it’s not always simple to spot them quickly.

Let’s first see what happened. AR must carefully monitor this procedure to ascertain whether Jackson is in an offside position and, if so, what the on-field decision is. That includes Romero’s assault on Enzo.

..yep, won the ball, however the red card and penalty were granted since the collision was made above the ankle.

    So, excellent procedure.
