Daniel Levy, Tottenham Hotspur’s chairman, revealed that a buy-back clause was secured during Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich this summer.
After a 19-year tenure with Spurs, Kane left the club to join the German champions in a deal valued at approximately £100 million.
Levy has now confirmed that there exists a clause allowing Spurs the option to reacquire the striker in the future, suggesting that Kane’s return to the team remains a possibility.
During a fan conference on Tuesday, Levy mentioned, “There is a buy-back clause,” but did not provide specific details regarding its financial terms or activation date.
Kane, prior to his first Champions League appearance for Bayern against Manchester United, expressed ongoing support for his former club. He stated, “I’ll always be watching them and supporting Tottenham for the rest of my life.”
He also expressed satisfaction with the team’s current performance and supporters’ happiness. He assured his intention to keep a close eye on the team’s progress throughout the season, particularly before their important match against Arsenal on Sunday.
Spurs supporters were slightly bothered earlier this month when Kane mentioned that losing games “never felt like a disaster” in contrast to life at his former club, indicating a contrasting viewpoint between the two clubs.
