Chelsea fans are in for a surprise as Todd Boehly reveals Jose Mourinho is set for an unexpected return to the Premier League, replacing Mauricio Pochettino, who hasn’t lived up to expectations.

After a tenure of two and a half years, Jose Mourinho was unexpectedly sacked by Roma, a club he took charge of after managing Manchester United. Despite delivering the Europa Conference League title in his first season, Roma’s current Serie A performance, where they currently sit in ninth place with 29 points after 20 matches, led to Mourinho’s dismissal.

The decision was made following a string of disappointing performances, culminating in a 3-1 loss to AC Milan. Mourinho’s contract, originally set to conclude in less than six months, was terminated. The owners, Dan and Ryan Friedkin, expressed gratitude for Mourinho’s dedication but deemed it necessary for the club that he step down immediately.

Mourinho’s initial success in securing the Europa Conference League and guiding Roma to the Europa League final in the 2022–23 season was overshadowed by the team’s current struggles in Serie A.

Despite making notable player acquisitions, including Tammy Abraham from Chelsea, and reaching the Europa League final, the decision to part ways with Mourinho was influenced by the team’s inconsistent performance and disappointing results in the ongoing season.
