Chelsea and Manchester City are monitoring Alphonso Davies’ contractual situation at Bayern Munich. The Canadian left-back’s current deal concludes in the summer of 2025, with no ongoing progress for an extension.
Davies lost his starting position to Raphael Guerreiro under Thomas Tuchel, leading to concerns about its impact on his on-field performance. His lawyer, Nedal Huoseh, stated that Davies is now fully focused on Bayern, with upcoming talks planned to resolve the situation.
Bayern’s latest offer is reportedly around Β£8.5 million per year, while Davies has been seeking Β£11 million, suggesting ongoing negotiations. Real Madrid is also interested, considering Davies as a top target alongside Kylian Mbappe for a summer move. If Bayern fails to secure a new deal before the season ends, Chelsea and Manchester City could enter the race for the talented player.
Should Davies become available, Bayern may need to consider attractive offers as his contract expires on July 1. Chelsea is looking for a left-back to compete with Ben Chilwell, especially with Levi Colwill expected to replace Thiago Silva in the center of defense. However, Chelsea might reconsider pursuing Davies if he insists on maintaining his high salary at Bayern.
Regarding Davies being benched, Tuchel mentioned his sensitivity and the impact of the situation on the player. Tuchel emphasized the importance of building Davies’ confidence, acknowledging his significance in the team’s gameplay and expressing trust in his abilities. Bayern had previously hoped for a contract extension with Davies since 2017, but the matter became complicated and was temporarily set aside.
