Reports suggest that Chelsea is eyeing Bradley Locko, a full-back for Brest, as a potential target. Known for signing young talents, Chelsea might bring in Locko next. The 21-year-old has had an impressive season in France with 22 games and two assists. Chelsea is reportedly considering Locko amid speculation of a search for a new left-back this summer.
HITC reports that Locko’s performances in France have attracted Chelsea’s interest for a potential deal. He could potentially replace Marc Cucurella, who is rumored to be leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of the current campaign.
Cucurella, who joined from Brighton for £62 million in 2022, has struggled to settle at Chelsea. Despite a promising debut season with Brighton, he has not maintained that form at Stamford Bridge. An ankle injury has sidelined him since December, and he has only started eight of the 14 Premier League games he has been available for. Chelsea seems open to letting him go.
Chelsea may target Locko as a replacement if Cucurella departs, providing cover for Ben Chilwell as well.
Following their January 2023 signing of Malo Gusto from Lyon, Chelsea might continue their strategy of purchasing young talents and allowing them to stay at their current clubs until the end of the season. Gusto, who plays as a right-back, has impressed for Chelsea, especially with Reece James sidelined due to injury. The 20-year-old could feature in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.
Gusto recently praised James, acknowledging him as one of the top players in his position and expressing admiration for Chelsea. He emphasized spending time with James to learn from him.
