Manchester City might still opt to replace Julian Alvarez internally this month, so the situation remains uncertain.
Oscar Bobb, who shone during the team’s U.S. preseason tour, is a strong contender, having scored two goals and provided three assists in four friendlies.
Bobb, who made 26 appearances last season, mostly as a substitute, could see a more prominent role without Alvarez, as could James McAtee and Nico O’Reilly, who both impressed in recent matches.
Phil Foden is also expected to take on a larger role this season. While Pep Guardiola has hinted at possible signings if a player departs, the team is likely to maintain a similar structure to last year, without many new additions.
