After the hosts made a defensive error, Reiss Nelson scored the game-winning goal in the eighth minute.
Although David Raya started in goal for Arsenal’s last three games, goalkeeper Ramsdale’s performance was crucial in securing Arteta’s team a fourth-round matchup against West Ham.
He attracted attention when he stopped Yoane Wissa in the second half as Brentford put the visitors under a lot of pressure.
Ramsdale resident Arteta said, “For sure, he’s been exceptional around the place – and especially with the situation.”
We certainly adore him. We are pleased to have him since we are aware of his character and the value he offers to the team. Every participant is crucial.
“He had the chance to play today, and he played really well.”
To advance to the quarterfinals, Arsenal will travel to West Ham United in the week beginning 30 October.
Ramsdale had been Arsenal’s top option to start the season, but Arteta sparked controversy by switching Raya in for the 1-0 victory over Everton on September 17.
He had a quiet beginning as Brentford struggled to generate opportunities in the opening period, failing to register a shot on goal.
After the half, though, the hosts much improved, and Ramsdale was required to brilliantly block Wissa’s shot on to the post before the rebound was cleared.
It turned out to be a key intervention, helping Arsenal weather the storm and extend their winning streak to eight games.
Thomas Frank, the Bees’ manager, said: “I detest losing, so it’s always difficult to take, but I’m extremely delighted with the performance. The foundation we can use is that.Excellent performance in the second half after a strong first half. With the opportunities we produced in the second half, I believe Arsenal was really fortunate to escape punishment.
