For the previous three months, the 20-year-old has been starting at right-back in Reece James’ absence.
James’ backup once more is Gusto, but given the wing-back’s history of injuries, Gusto needs to be prepared to take over.
On Monday, however, the French U21 team announced that Gusto was forced to leave the team due to a ligament issue.
Given his recent fitness issues, James withdrew from the England team as a precaution. Chelsea will be hoping that Gusto can recover in time for their trip to Newcastle following the international break.
