After Chelsea’s 3-2 victory, Mauricio Pochettino discussed the reason behind their frequent goal concessions, stating that allowing numerous goals is sometimes a consequence of playing entertaining football. The Argentine coach offered this explanation following the Premier League clash between Chelsea and Brighton.
Despite Chelsea taking a 2-0 lead in the first half, Brighton’s Facundo Buonanotte equalized the game. Later, the visitors scored again in the 92nd minute through Enzo Fernandez’s penalty in the second half.
With just 14 games played, Chelsea has already conceded 22 league goals this season, twice the amount conceded by the league leaders, Arsenal.
Reflecting on the win at Stamford Bridge, Pochettino expressed, “I am exhausted. We needed the three points and we secured them.” He emphasized the enjoyment of football, highlighting its excitement. He mentioned the thrilling matches in recent weeks, praising the Premier League as the finest league globally and highlighting the enjoyment it brings.
While aiming for scoring numerous goals while conceding none, Pochettino acknowledged that being an attacking-minded team involves taking risks, occasionally leading to conceding chances and goals. Ultimately, he stressed that the primary focus is on achieving victories.
