Newcastle United is reportedly considering the prospect of recruiting David De Gea as they look for goalkeeper options following Nick Pope’s prolonged injury, as per reports from Craig Hope of the Daily Mail.
Pope, aged 31, sustained a dislocated shoulder during a Premier League match against Manchester United at St. James’ Park on Saturday night.

Expected to be out of action for an estimated period of four to five months, Newcastle’s primary goalkeeper is unlikely to return until at least the conclusion of the ongoing season.
With only Martin Dubravka and Loris Karius available as senior goalkeeping options, neither being a regular starter, manager Eddie Howe has apparently turned his attention to 33-year-old David De Gea.
De Gea, a free agent since his contract expired at Old Trafford in the summer, is now open to discussions with clubs worldwide.
Given Newcastle’s recent injury setbacks, they seem well-positioned to secure the services of the former elite goalkeeper.
