Jack Grealish dismissed any concerns about a crisis following his game-winning goal in Manchester City’s 2-1 triumph over Luton Town.
City dominated possession initially and had opportunities to take the lead, but the hosts scored through Elijah Adebayo’s header. Pep Guardiola’s side fought back, leveling the score with Bernardo Silva’s curled shot around the hour mark.
Just two minutes later, Grealish converted a splendid cross from Julian Alvarez to complete City’s comeback. This win marked City’s first in the Premier League since a 6-1 win against AFC Bournemouth in early November. There was speculation about City’s form after losing to Aston Villa and drawing three consecutive games against top teams like Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham. Grealish, speaking to Sky Sports, brushed off such talk as “outside noise.”
“Many people talk about City and consider it a significant crisis,” he stated. “However, we faced tough opponents – Tottenham, who have been outstanding, league leaders Liverpool, Chelsea, and Aston Villa away, with one of the best records in Europe. We played against top teams, won one, and drew three. It’s not catastrophic, but some want to make it seem that way.”
Regarding the game, the 28-year-old mentioned, “We knew it would be a tough game. Credit to Luton, they’re an underrated team. It was challenging coming here, but we got the job done.”
